Simply putting up a blog post about cheap car insurance is not going to automatically bring in readers, so you should understand why you might not be getting the exposure you were hoping for.
1. You Do Not Use SEO Properly
You have to optimize your content for the search engines to find you. If you aren’t ranking high enough in the search engine results, no one is going to find you. If you were running blog about auto insurance companies, you wouldn’t get many requests for advice if no one is reading your work.

Keyword density simply means that you have the key words in your title used in your article. Going for one use of your keyword every 100 words tends to do best, or 1-2 percent density overall. Using the proper keywords simply means that you are using terms that people are going to search for to find content.
Getting links to your content can be anything from linking from other blogs you have, posting in forums or using social media.
2. Not Enough Content is Being Posted
If you aren’t writing, no one is going to want to read your work. How would you respond if you went to a blog and found only one post from last February? Even if you enjoyed that one post, you wouldn’t recommend that others read that content would you?
Probably not, so make sure you are updating your content every so often, it is also a good way for search engines to recognize that you are out there and should be indexed.
3. Promotion is Being Ignored
Promoting your content is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. You have to share links, post updates about your blog and let people know that you have content that can be viewed.
It is really hard to build up steady traffic if you simply post something and let it sit there. It won’t attract many views and it will simply frustrate you to no end.
4. Lack of Engagement With Your Readers
You don’t engage with your readers at all. You might have a few page views, or maybe even a couple of comments, but you don’t say anything back. Perhaps you don’t have a contact page, or any way that your readers can start a dialogue with you.
If your readers feel like interaction is going to be like talking to a brick wall, they will go somewhere else that feels more interactive to them.
5. Lack of a Social Media Presence
Do you use Twitter? What about a Facebook page? If you aren’t using social media, no one is going to be able to interact with you, and you lose a place to share links and gain followers and exposure.
Everyone wants to be able to follow their favorite authors, celebrities and others on Twitter to see what they have to say on a regular basis. A lack of a social media presence can shut you out from the mainstream.
6. Your Content is not Very Good
Content is the biggest thing to make or break your blog. If your content is too vague, not written well enough or just isn’t interesting, no one is going to tell others about it. You can promote, interact and do whatever else you want, but having poor content is simply going to turn people off.
A good idea is to make sure your content is compelling and interesting first, and then start to promote your work. That way, you will become known for something worth reading.
It is better to be unknown as opposed to being known for poor work.
Writing a blog is challenging and rewarding. What you need to remember is that you only get what you put into it. If you don’t write, interact and promote, you aren’t going to get anything out of your blog.
