As bloggers we take great value in knowing who is hosting our web sites and content, but think back to when you first started with your blog. Do you remember the long drawn out process you went through to select who was going to host your web site? You probably do, and there is also a good chance that you haven’t been with the same company through out the years.

Personally, I’ve been with a ton of hosts over the years and I haven’t been happy til I finally got setup with my current host over at HostGator. The growth issues and annoyances I’ve had with companies over the years has been nothing but frustrating.

These days it’s much easier to create a web site or blog of your own without needing to know anything about HTML or how to use FTP software. Ah, I’m so jealous!

But it’s not the regular hosting companies that are making the process so easy, instead it’s the free hosting companies that are providing all of the solutions and benefits that make a world of difference for amateur site owners.

Wix.com for example has over 26 million sites hosted on their services and they are offering their amazing drag and drop design system to all of their users for free. This means you can customize the font, colors, look and feel of your site without ever needing to touch a single line of code.

Many of the top web hosting companies online offer site building solutions, but what I’ve seen from these top ranked free hosting companies is quite amazing.

Who are the Best Free Web Hosting Companies?

As mentioned, Wix is one of the best players out there when it comes to offering free web hosting and including some amazing design tools and upgrades if needed. However there are still plenty of other free hosts out there for you to choose from.

Blogging.org just released their “Top 25 Free Web Hosting Companies” infographic and report. In addition to ranking the best free hosts, they also include some amazing web site stats such as “270k new websites are created every day”.

Be sure to check out the infographic below and if you know anyone who is interested in starting their own web site or blog and don’t want to mess with any of the annoyances of uploading files, installing software or have the costs for a domain and shared hosting… recommend they check out some of the names on the list below.

Wix and Weebly are in the a League of their Own

What makes Wix and Weebly the top two free web hosting companies on this list? It’s most likely their ability to offer such a superior service at no cost. When you sign up for a paid hosting service, usually you are setup with your account and have to figure the rest out. Wix and Weebly have an amazing sign up process that not only allows you access all of their tools for free, but anyone can literally create a web site of their own in just minutes using their free design software.

With over 12 million people using Weebly and another 26 million on Wix, these are the two true leaders in free web site hosting and design services. In addition to their free services, you can also upgrade your hosting packages at any time to include more features such as a full domain name and ecommerce solutions.

Even with over 40,000 votes coming in from web site owners around the world, who are using different services, it’s no wonder to see Wix and Weebly at the top of the list. These two solutions make it extremely easy for anyone to get started with a web site or blog of their own.

    Hi Zac,

Wonderful list of free hosting companies. I liked the infographic! But do you think that free hosts are good?

Blogger is also a Google free hosting service, but I don’t like it because you don’t even know when you get suspended! 🙂

It depends what you want to do with your site. The best services are made to work and grow with all sites and goals. Wix and Weebly for example have free hosting, but paid solutions if you wanted to grow and start an ecommerce site of your own.

I’m weary of free Web hosting companies from experiences I’ve had in the past. In my opinion, if you take your blogging endeavors seriously, then it is better to pay for Web hosting.

Some of the top free hosting companies like Wix and Weebly are backed by mega millions, which makes them better than some of the top paid hosting solutions out there.

Please can you do a review about Zyma. I think it’s the worst web host out there! They had really duped me!

I just came here to say Wix is the worst webhost ever. It took me like two days earlier in the year to get rid of all their redirects and setup wordpress instead on a clients account. Wix is what guys use when they dont know how to use wordpress.
